In the Modern Free and Accepted Masons of the World, Inc., the Lodge is the foundation of the fraternity. It is the local body where members gather to conduct business, perform rituals, support one another, and plan charitable and community initiatives. It is within the Lodge that the true work of the organization takes place and where the spirit of brotherhood is most strongly experienced.

What Is a Lodge?

A Lodge is a chartered body operating under the authority of the governing structure of Modern Free and Accepted Masons of the World, Inc., often referred to as the Grand Lodge or Supreme Council. Each Lodge abides by the constitution, rules, and principles of the organization while serving a defined community or geographic area.

Every Lodge carries a name and a number, such as King Solomon Lodge No. 1192, and represents both the history and the ongoing work of the fraternity within its community.

Purpose and Function of a Lodge

The Lodge serves several key purposes that guide its daily work and long term mission:

Brotherhood and Fellowship

The Lodge brings together men of good character who seek meaningful connection, personal growth, and mutual support. It creates a lifelong network of brothers committed to uplifting one another.

Ritual and Tradition

The Lodge is where the degrees of Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason are conferred. These ceremonies are rich in symbolism and preserve the traditions that define the Masonic journey.

Service and Charity

Each Lodge acts as a center for benevolence and community outreach. Through organized service efforts, charitable giving, and civic engagement, Lodges extend care and support to those in need.

Education and Development

Members are encouraged to grow in knowledge, leadership, and moral character. Lodges regularly host educational sessions, mentorship opportunities, and discussions that strengthen both the individual and the organization.

Leadership Within the Lodge

Each Lodge is governed by elected officers who ensure that the Lodge functions with order, discipline, and purpose. The Worshipful Master serves as the presiding officer and is supported by key officers including the Senior Warden, Junior Warden, Secretary, Treasurer, Chaplain, and other appointed officers. Together, they uphold the traditions of the fraternity while guiding its day to day operations.
