Chapters are the local bodies of the Heroines of Jordan within Modern Free and Accepted Masons of the World, Inc. They serve as the foundation of the sisterhood, providing a place where women gather to grow in fellowship, carry out meaningful work, and extend service throughout their communities. It is within the Chapter that the values of the Order are lived daily and where the spirit of unity, compassion, and strength is most clearly seen.
Across The Bahamas, Chapters operate as active centers of support, leadership, and outreach, strengthening both the organization and the communities they serve.
What Is a Chapter?
A Chapter is a chartered body operating under the authority of the Heroines of Jordan Grand Chapter and in harmony with Mecca Grand Lodge and the Bahamas Grand Council. Each Chapter is assigned a name and number and serves a defined geographic area or community.
Chapters are where members meet regularly to conduct business, carry out ceremonial work, organize charitable activities, and build lasting bonds of sisterhood.
Purpose and Function of Chapters
Each Chapter fulfills an important role in advancing the mission of the Heroines of Jordan and the wider organization:
Sisterhood and Fellowship
Chapters create a welcoming environment where women of strong character can connect, support one another, and grow together. The bonds formed within the Chapter often extend beyond meetings into lifelong friendships and shared purpose.
Tradition and Ceremony
Chapters uphold the ceremonial practices and traditions of the Heroines of Jordan. Through these observances, members are reminded of the values of loyalty, virtue, compassion, and moral strength that define the Order.
Service and Community Impact
Each Chapter acts as a hub for charitable work and community outreach. From assisting families in need to supporting national initiatives, Chapters play a direct role in uplifting communities and extending care where it is most needed.
Leadership and Development
Chapters provide opportunities for members to develop leadership skills, serve in office, and grow in confidence and knowledge. Through mentorship and participation, women are prepared to lead within the organization and within their communities.
Leadership Within a Chapter
Each Chapter is governed by elected and appointed officers who guide its work and ensure its success. The Worthy Matron serves as the presiding officer, supported by the Worthy Patron, Associate Matron, Secretary, Treasurer, Conductress, and other appointed officers.
Together, they ensure that the Chapter operates with order, discipline, and purpose, while maintaining the dignity and standards of the Heroines of Jordan.
The Role of Chapters in the Organization
Chapters are essential to the strength and growth of the Heroines of Jordan Grand Chapter. They provide the local presence needed to carry out the mission of service, unity, and moral upliftment across The Bahamas.
